Different options for all kind of travellers

Santa Teresa is situated between two small fishing villages, Malpaís to the south and Manzanillo to the North. Tiamat is located on the northern side of town, towards Manzanillo, at Playa Hermosa. From the Malpaís / Santa Teresa crossroad, take a right and continue through town until you see the Hermosa Valley School, turn left and you´ll find us!

By Air

The easiest and fastest way to get here is by air. Daily flights from San Jose international airport to our local airport in Tambor are available. Flight time to Tambor from San Jose is approximiatley 20min.
You can arrange it with Nature Air (www.natureair.com) or SANSA (www.flysansa.com), check their schedules online to see if it fits your itinerary!.You will need to take a taxi from Tambor to the hotel, Mal País/Santa Teresa is a scenic 45-minute drive from the airport. We will be happy to arrange it for you if you let us know.

By Car

The drive from San Jose to the Playa Hermosa/ Santa teresa area is usually in the range of 4 to 5 hours. Drive to Puntarenas(1- 1.5 hours), where you will take a ferry across the Nicoya Gulf (1hr) to Paquera.
check the ferry schedule www.navieratambor.com From Paquera it is about an hour drive to Cobano, straight on to Santa Teresa / Malpais crossroad. Make a right when you get there towards Santa teresa and continue driving for about 6km, we´re on the main beach acces road to Playa Hermosa.It will not take you more than 15 minutes to get here!

By Bus

The cheapest option is the Direct Bus that leaves from San Carlos bus station in San José (downtown). Currently leaving twice a day, at 6am and 2pm. It takes between 6 to 7 hours to get to Santa Teresa.
Depending on the arrival time of your flight, if you want to take the bus, you may have to spend the night in San José. PLEASE NOTE: the Juan Santa Maria International Airport is actually located in Alajuela, not San José. To get to the San Carlos bus station from the airport, it is a 30 minute ride.
